The 20-story cast-in-place concrete One Main Place structure was completed in 1982. As an early-80s Modernist office building, the building’s entry and exterior plazas featured a great deal of beige-on-beige along with weathered concrete. To revamp the building’s appeal, Fortis lead the CM/GC services for the 5,000sf main lobby upgrade along with a complete renovation of the 10,000sf adjacent exterior plazas. Because all work was performed in and around occupied public space, interior construction activities were planned in detail during preconstruction and then executed in phases with off-hours work. The $4.1M overhauled entry now provides the modern amenities and inviting environment demanded by downtown Class A office buildings.
