Fortis completed this 250,000sf data center in Quincy, Washington, in 2008. The support facility handles data-processing and storage for the company’s internet business operations. The site was over-excavated six feet below finished floor to make room for 46 miles of underground conduit and 45,000 cubic yards of lean concrete backfill, which supports the critical facility. Within, Fortis built out the infrastructure down to the remote power panels, and a static UPS system with diesel generators provide the back-up power source. The building shell is structural steel with pre-cast concrete panels.
