Following the successful completion of the $43M Stott Center & Viking Pavilion, Portland State University selected Fortis for its next major campus enhancement: the $70 million ($58M construction) and 217,000sf comprehensive modernization of Fariborz Maseeh Hall (formerly Neuberger Hall), which is the main classroom and faculty/administrative-office facility on campus. As the CM/GC, Fortis co-located with Hacker Architects and PSU in a collaborative IPD team structure. Along with state-of-the-art classroom, office and support spaces, the project’s scope included a seismic upgrade; accessibility and connectivity improvements including new entries; hazmat abatement; and the multi-floor, 7,500-square-foot Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. During these efforts, the building remained occupied throughout construction.
