Kaiser Permanente selected Fortis for the preconstruction and construction services of the $8M Eugene medical office building expansion. Originally the expanded outpatient services, dental offices and support spaces were meant to be built out within the provider’s 40,000sf Eugene, Oregon, facility, but after additional cost analysis and studies on Kaiser needs, it was determined that users would be best served by separate locations. The result was expansions of a 3,300 sf, $1.1M medical clinic and a 5,700sf, $1.4M dental facility within two different existing buildings. The medical clinic includes six outpatient clinic exam rooms, outpatient support services and a pharmacy. The dental facility includes 10 dental offices, two provider workstations as well as a range of administrative and member services. With a Fortis commitment to diversity and small businesses, more than 50 percent of the scope of work under the clinic and dental offices was completed by MWESB subcontractors.
