Fortis delivered the $20.4 million, 100,000-square-foot Oregon State Capitol House and Senate Wings Renovation ahead of schedule and below budget. Through the CM/GC delivery process, Fortis undertook extensive demolition and restoration efforts, for both the building interior and exterior. The central portion of the State Capitol was built in the 1930s and the wing expansions were added in the late ‘70s; in addition to modernizing the wings through the renovation, Fortis’ efforts aided in architecturally matching the wings with the central portion of the Capitol building. Details such as the woodwork, walls, furniture, light fixtures and carpeting reflect the classic style of the original structure. Fortis also completed a $2 million terrace rehabilitation in parallel with the House and Senate Wings Renovation. Building safety and modernization were key drivers in the project planning, as the project remained occupied during construction.
