With a new requirement that freshmen live on campus, OSU needed to provide additional beds to meet the needs of a growing student body. To expand capacity, the $22 million, 76,379-square-foot William Tebeau Residence Hall provides 324 new beds within 54 suites. Each suite includes three bedrooms with a shared common area and bathroom as well as access to a community kitchen on each floor. With a construction schedule of 14 months, the “L” shaped building is composed of a five-story dorm wing connected to a one-story student health clinic and recreation wing. Providing cost savings for OSU, construction of the building utilized a repetitive-floor method along with off-site prefabrication; the process was possible thanks in part to the precision of Fortis’ in-house Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Team.
