The $1.6M OHSU Foundation Headquarters Office awarded to Fortis Construction was due in large part to long-term relationships with OHSU (60+ projects), architect Mackenzie (20+ projects), as well as the private companies with executives who are also OHSU Foundation board members. This modernization includes more than 16,000sf of renovations at the existing downtown Portland headquarters; due to the adjacency of occupied office floors within the 10-story Jacobs Center, Fortis developed detailed plans and defined communication channels for coordinating work within the building, deliveries, material movement, and off-hours necessities. Key areas of workplace improvements included an open-floor plan with upgraded reception area, conference rooms, kitchen, and a breakroom with views to the OHSU Marquam Hill and South Waterfront campuses. Successful preconstruction and budgeting efforts resulted in the expansive use of reclaimed wood throughout the main reception space, which provides modern appeal while reinforcing a commitment to sustainability.
