PAE Engineers, Yeon Building Headquarters

Several years after Fortis completed a multi-phase renovation of PAE Engineers’ downtown office, the firm relocated to accommodate its rapid growth. After selecting Portland’s Historic Yeon building, PAE once again selected Fortis for the two-floor, 16,000-square-foot tenant improvement. The new PAE headquarters features an open-office environment, reception area, conference rooms, work areas, breakroom, and a 16th-floor penthouse with roof deck. High-end lighting from multiple manufacturers is featured throughout the space to showcase the design of Luma—PAE’s in-house lighting department. Also, to keep the historic character of the downtown high-rise, Fortis refurbished the original historic marble tile flooring and exposed existing columns. Other elements of architectural appeal include the Modular Arts Hombre Wall—a painted mineral composite wall at the reception desk—and the Raumplus sliding wall panels with writable glass in the open collaboration area. The project is LEED Platinum certified. Fortis contributed to the certification through numerous measures, such as building out energy efficient, individual air feeds for each desk and installing a reception desk and breakroom table made from reclaimed telephone poles.
