The Moran Eye Center Modernization encompassed a 4,750sf update of the existing Optical Shop and adjacent vacant office space. This transformation introduced a patient-focused layout that included seven exam rooms, six work-up rooms, three specialized testing rooms, two private offices, a centralized check-out desk, and a refreshed waiting area.

The Optical Shop itself was significantly upgraded with new custom millwork, a dedicated contact lens area, and a fully equipped lab. Each space was outfitted with advanced medical equipment, custom cabinetry, and high-end finishes to meet current clinical standards and enhance both functionality and patient experience. This project successfully completed in two phases, prioritizing the early turnover of the optical shop and shortly after the turnover of new exam rooms to treat an increased volume of patients. Both phases were successfully completed on time within the 4-month consultation duration.

This project was completed within an occupied and fully operational hospital, presenting unique logistical and safety challenges. Notably, a Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) was located directly above the construction zone, requiring heightened sensitivity to noise, vibration, and infection control. To ensure the safety and comfort of patients and staff, the construction team implemented rigorous Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) protocols, including dust containment systems, negative air pressure environments, and continuous coordination with hospital personnel.

The successful delivery of this project reflects a high level of precision, collaboration, and commitment to maintaining uninterrupted hospital operations while achieving a transformative upgrade to the Moran Eye Center.
