Knappa School District, Campus Expansion and Renovation

The design-build team led by Fortis Construction with partner PIVOT Architecture maximized the value of bond dollars while expanding capacity and improving security and infrastructure for the Knappa School District campus. The completed project also created healthy learning environments with dedicated spaces for science, technology, library, mental health, athletics, and preschool education for the growing community. This was all accomplished while keeping bond dollars in the local community—with local subcontractor and vendor participation utilization above 40%.

Overall, the bond-funded expansion and modernization provided:

• Ground-up middle school expansion adjacent to existing Hilda Lahti Elementary (K-8)
• New preschool spaces and restrooms withing existing school
• New, detached auxiliary gym
• New playgrounds
• New security fencing
• Library and Administrative/Counseling interior renovations within Knappa High School (9-12)
• HVAC upgrades
• New fire line and sprinkler system
• Accessibility improvements
