This $4.3M design-build project modernized the National Guard armory (originally constructed in 1954) as well as enlarged the base grounds, further developed the site and updated vehicle and equipment buildings. The new facility also provides a community resource with flexible event space. The Fortis-led design-build team oversaw every aspect of land-use planning, zoning, programming and design, with the inclusion of extensive local subcontractor participation. Fortis also self-performed rough carpentry and steel installation as well as led the value engineering effort to prioritize program features within a constrained federal/state budget allocation. The modernized, 13,850sf facility now exceeds Oregon Department of Energy SEED benchmarks.
