Hopscotch is an immersive and experiential brand bringing together artists to create unique, impactful experiences. The company is using art as a vessel to tell stories and spotlight messages of the past, present, and future, and proudly states, “We strongly believe in cultivating lasting relationships.” When it came time to find a local partner to support the build of its Portland creative space with a strong community connection, Hopscotch selected Fortis for its second permanent location (and first on the West Coast). The completed project features 14 large-scale and immersive exhibitions of art, light and sound throughout a 23,000-square-foot space. A food program with full kitchen, curated by Top Chef’s Sara Hauman, is complemented by multiple bars throughout the space that serve beverages crafted using Oregon-based companies. Also, the Hop Shop offers unique gifts and custom curiosities by local artists. To use an art metaphor, Fortis essentially collaborated with Hopscotch to create the palette that the artists could then use to create the final space; in just more than 3 months, we were able to efficiently work with and around building neighbors and busy streets of Portland’s dense Goat Blocks to deliver the fast-paced project on schedule.
