Alaska Airlines, PDX Lounge

Fortis led construction of the Alaska Airlines Terminal-Core (TCORE) Lounge at Portland International Airport (PDX). The 14,140sf, multi-level lounge is located within the TCORE, which is PDX’s modern, world-class terminal. Travelers enter the lounge through a lobby on the terminal’s enplaning-level and use a dedicated stair or elevator to access 10,840sf of amenities on the mezzanine level, including: a concierge desk; staffed bistro and barista station; flexible dining areas; a full-service bar; workstations; and various seating options with views of the runway and concourse. The lounge is supported by a 1,100sf commercial kitchen on the enplaning level, plus storage, staff offices and a breakroom on the deplaning level below.

This project required an extraordinary commitment to coordination. The Seattle-based client entrusted Fortis to act as their advocate and keep them apprised of progress through transparent communication and regular reporting. To keep the work moving on schedule, Fortis proactively engaged multiple PDX and Port of Portland representatives, the City of Portland, TSA regulators, and the design team. Success also depended on continuous coordination with a separate general contracting team that was concurrently building the surrounding TCORE shell.

The lounge is notable for its high-end finishes and custom-designed elements, which create a distinctly Pacific Northwest vibe. This includes a fireplace, a 15-foot-long walnut concierge desk, a circular bistro, and ornate metal-and-wood detailing. The project is LEED Certified.
