Fortis Construction’s build of Crane’s new PDX01 Data Center strategically positions the client in Forest Grove, Oregon, to provide a scalable, state-of-the-art campus with multiple fiber paths, sustainable technologies, and redundant power-transmission feeds that provide access to renewable energy. The data halls, work spaces, and onsite amenities are being meticulously designed and constructed to anticipate Crane’s future client needs.
The PDX01 Data Center will be ready for service in 2026 to support artificial intelligence and machine learning workload needs. It will present efficiency and sustainability through LEED certification, air-based cooling, rainwater harvesting, and a low-carbon building—contributing to an annual average PUE of 1.3 or lower.
To accommodate the modern needs of AI/machine learning users, PDX01 will include amenities such as a cafeteria, snack/coffee bar, bicycle storage, tool lockers, showers, and a security system utilizing 24x7x365 remote hands, security cards, biometric scanners, and controlled-site access. Logistical needs are addressed by multiple loading docks with height-adjustable ramps, ample material staging, and on-site parking.
For the technical details, the first phase of Data Center PDX01 includes 24 megawatts with 36,000sf of white space and 6,400sf of adjacent flex space—building toward a total capacity of 100+ megawatts and 667+ watts/sf of high-density cooling. The campus features gen-sets utilizing bio-diesel fuel / N+1 config / 24+hrs backup and UPS high efficiency / N+1 configuration. With access to the Pittock internet exchange and the Wave Fiber Ring, PDX01 will provide carrier-neutral connectivity to various cloud on-ramps, IP Transit, and long-haul fiber.
