To establish a presence in Portland’s high-end Pearl District and provide motorcycle sales, service, apparel, parts and accessories to urban riders, Harley-Davidson selected Fortis to build out a 5,000-square-foot “Speed Shop.” The new sales model was envisioned as a place to serve existing customers located in Portland as well as reach a younger demographic who might not first think of Harley-Davidson when they think of motorcycles. To cater to existing customers as well as attract new demographics, the Speed Shop combines: a motorcycle showroom; service area; retail space for accessories and apparel; and the Racer Cafe, where, “… the coffee and espresso drinks are as high octane as the motorcycles.” Also to create an immersive experience, the service bay is fully visible from almost any spot in the shop so that current and potential customers can see the technicians in action.
