Due to a growing need for women’s services and maternal fetal medicine, Providence Health selected Fortis to convert an existing office spaces within its Northeast Portland Office Park into the East Portland Women’s Clinic.  The nature-inspired environment with a range of welcoming and private spaces to support the unique needs of the patient population encompasses exam rooms, procedure rooms, office/admin space, upgraded MEP systems, and upgraded elevators.

Because the Women’s Clinic is located directly above an active heart and vascular clinic, it was critical to limit disruptions and keep adjacent spaces operational. An initial laser scan of the existing office combined with Virtual Design & Construction efforts ensured that the team could identify and eliminate unknown conditions before construction started. Fortis also minimized impacts by coordinating major shutdowns around clinic operating hours and proactively communicating the workflow and timing with facilities and healthcare staff. All this combined with Lean construction processes and MEP design-build delivery resulted in on-time and on-budget completion.
