The Providence Portland Medical Center Pharmacy Remodel is the result of a successful CM/GC collaboration with JRJ Architects. This $1.9M, 1,700sf project converted what used to be an in-house pharmacy into a full-scale hazardous drug compounding and cleanroom facility. This space has been updated to meet the new USP Pharmacy 797/800 Compliance code requirements, which promote the safe handling of hazardous drugs in pharmaceutical and healthcare environments. Fortis constructed a series of negative-pressure cleanrooms intended to contain harmful gasses and toxic compounds as well as adjacent positive pressure rooms that ensured contamination did not penetrate critical areas. The project team installed Altro Whiterock – a heavy-duty wall cladding that creates a smooth, easily cleanable surface – which will minimize the risk of exposure to pharmacists and nurses operating in the facility.
